Notes:
Upon
completing the Windows Demo Experience Installation, you will be prompted to
reboot the PC.
- Once the PC begins rebooting, you may remove the installation USB and begin the installation process on another demo PC
- After rebooting, the Demo PC will undergo a process of setting the demo image. This process will take anywhere from 5-40 minutes. During this time the PC you will see the Windows 8 Start Screen appear and the PC will reboot on multiple occasions.
- DO NOT INTERACT WITH THE PC DURING THIS TIME. This includes using the keyboard, mouse, or shutting of the PC.
- If you or a customer interacts with the PC, you may prevent the Demo from installing correctly. If this occurs you will be required to uninstall the demo and reinstall.
- You will know the PC is ready for customer interactions when the Attract Loop begins to play.
Recommended
Times For Demo Installation:
To minimize the likelihood of customer
interaction while the demo image is being set, if at all possible it is
recommended to install the demo:
- In the backroom of the store
- At or after store close when customers are not present
- Periods during store hours when there is the least customer traffic
Remember
the Admin Password entered in during installation.
- This password will be required to uninstall the Demo.
- If your admin password has not been set for your retailer, it is recommended that you use the same password for all PCs in the store.
Domain
Joined Devices
Windows 8 demo cannot be installed on a domain
joined deviceBefore Installing the Windows 8 DemoPrior to installing the Windows 8 Demo please make sure that you have done the following:· Make sure the system clock is set to the correct Date and Time· PC is connected to the network (if available). This step is critical because it will activate the PC, which is a requirement to install the Windows 8 Demo. Additionally, this will ensure that the Demo PC will automatically connect to the network.
System Requirements
Demo devices should have minimum system
requirements of:
- Windows 8 (Demo will not run on Windows 7)
- 1 GHz or faster processor
- 1 GB RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
- 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
- 1 USB slot

BASIC INSTALLATION: Manually Launching the Installation
1. Login into an
Admin account on the PC.
a. Note that the
assumption is the PC has already been run through the initial setup process.
2. On the Start
Screen, click on the Desktop tile.
3. Insert Windows
Demo Experience USB.
4. Click on Folder icon.
NOTE for Windows
RT Devices: You may not have access a
traditional desktop view. The can access
the File Explore by going to the Charms Bar > Search > Enter “File
Explorer”
5. Select the
Removable Disk
6.
Open the ‘install’
folder
Tip !Don’t know what type of OS you are installing on? Most PCs nowadays run a 64 Bit OS, so choose AMD64. If you want to determine the if the PC is 64-bit, 32-bit, or Arm, you can view the system type by accessing [Control Panel>System and Security>System] and reviwing the System type field.
7. Choose the
correct folder based on the type of operating system installed on the PC.
a. 64 Bit OS: Choose [amd64]
b. 32 Bit OS: Choose [x86]
c. ARM Device: Choose [arm]
8. Double click on “WindowsDemoInstall”.
